Man charged with stabbing wife
Date published: 9/12/2012
A Spotsylvania County man is accused of ending an ongoing domestic dispute by stabbing his wife at their home.
Sheriff's Office 1st Sgt. James Konicki said police and rescue workers went to the 14800 block of Antler Road about 3:17 a.m. Monday after getting a 911 call from 47-year-old Dawn Hacker. Deputies found Hacker bleeding profusely from a stab wound to the upper right side of her chest.
Konicki said the victim reported that her husband stabbed her after a verbal altercation turned physical. After receiving emergency treatment at the scene, the victim was flown to Mary Washington Hospital to be treated for a collapsed lung.
Her husband, 43-year-old Jerry Hacker, was found at the end of the driveway and immediately taken into custody. He was charged with malicious wounding and placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
Detective Leonard Short took over the investigation and determined that the couple had been arguing for several days. Konicki said he wasn't sure what the argument was about.
