SHOOTING VICTIM'S SPOUSE FOUND DEAD
The husband of Patricia Cook, the 54-year-old woman who was shot and killed by a Culpeper town policeman Feb. 9, was found dead in his apartment Tuesday.
Gary Cook's body was discovered by a maintenance man at the Friendship Heights Apartment complex. He was 62.
"At this stage of the investigation, it does not appear foul play was a factor in the man's death," Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler said in a news release.
When asked if suicide was a possibility, Tyler responded, "I think you're reading too much into it." Because it was an unattended death, an autopsy will be performed.
Former town police officer Daniel Harmon-Wright is scheduled to go on trial in January on a murder charge in Patricia Cook's death.
