Charles M. McGehee

Charles Marvin "Charlie" McGehee, 81, of Unionville passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at his residence.

Born, Aug. 31, 1931, in Unionville, he was a son of the late William Clement and Mattie Tatum McGehee. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, William R. and Betty McGehee.

Charlie graduated from Unionville School and later served in the U.S. Army, specifically with the military police in the Korean War. He was a member of Rhoadesville Baptist Church and a member of the Orange Masonic Lodge. Charlie also had a great love for hunting, fishing and flying his remote-controlled airplanes.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Tucker McGehee; a son, Kevin May; a daughter, Melissa Hart and her husband, Kris; and a special nephew, Tommy McGehee. Charlie will also be missed by his grandchildren, Christopher Crane, Griffin Wright and Hayden Hart, who called him "Buddy."

A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Rhoadesville Baptist Church, Rhoadesville. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the church cemetery. The Rev. Nancy Stanton McDaniel will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rhoadesville Baptist Church, Capital Improvements Campaign.
