SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY

Living Word Lutheran Church, 2601 Wheatland Woods Drive, will hold homecoming on Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. Living Word is a member congregation of the North American Lutheran Church. It will celebrate acceptance into the NALC with a picnic to be held after the service. The Youth Ministry of First New Hope Baptist Church, 4508 Dickerson Road in Partlow, will hold its second annual Youth Empowerment Conference and worship service Sept. 15-16. FREDERICKSBURG

St. George's Episcopal Church will welcome the Rt. Rev. Jane Holmes Dixon as speaker on Sept. 16 at 9:55 a.m. in Sydnor Hall.

The fourth annual St. George's Chamber Music Series will begin Sept. 16 at 3 p.m. with a performance by Tina Christie on flute and John Vreeland on piano and organ. Admission is $10 per person. STAFFORD COUNTY

Shiloh (Old Site) Baptist Church, 1855 Garrisonville Road, will host a free community outreach event Sept 22, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Anne Moncure Elementary School near Doc Stone Plaza. Beth Sholom Temple, 805 Lyons Blvd., will begin its High Holy Days observance Sept. 16 with an Erev Rosh Hashana service at 7 p.m. Rosh Hashana services continue on Sept. 17 with a 10 a.m. service at the temple and a 3:45 p.m. children's service at City Dock, followed by a 4:15 p.m. Taschlich service. WESTMORELAND COUNTY

St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 203 Dennison St. in Colonial Beach, will launch a series of storytelling forums on Sept. 16 at 9:15 a.m. in the parish hall. Local chef Bill Hall will share anecdotes about his culinary journey in the "The Creativity of Cooking."

New Monrovia Baptist Church will sponsor Friends and Family Day on Sept. 16 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Paul Carter and Grant's Hill Baptist Church will be guests.

GOSPEL SINGS/CONCERTS

Round Oak Baptist Church, 15025 Pepmeier Hill Road in Corbin, will hold a gospel sing Sept. 16 at 6 p.m., featuring One Lane Bridge and David Palmer. A love offering will be collected for Micah Ministries Breakfast Endeavors. A dessert social will follow. 540/373-6862; roundoakchurch.org.

Massaponax Baptist Church, at the intersection of Massaponax Church Road and U.S. 1, will hold a gospel sing Sept. 15, 4-7 p.m., featuring Ronnie Williams and the Carter Gospel Sound, Sticks and Stones from King George, Richard and Ramona Morris, and the Massaponax Baptist Church Praise Team and Church Choir. Mount Zion Baptist Church, 6030 Harrison Road, will hold a "Unity in the Fredericksburg Community" fall concert Sept. 15 at 5 p.m., featuring recording artist Minister Keith Armstead and the Fredericksburg Community Choir. Translators and services for the hearing-impaired will be provided.

Joysong Chorale will perform and direct a Sing Back in Time hymn sing at Old Salem Baptist Church on Sept. 16 at 2 p.m., followed by ice cream on the historic grounds. The music will date from 1845 to 1865. The concert is free and sponsored by the National Park Service. A park historian will be on hand to provide historical background on the church.
