We spent a wonderful 12 days in Italy that included Pisa, Florence, Venice, Muggia, Trieste, Rome, Bologna and Umbria. My sister, Navy Capt. Sarah Dachos, was married in Umbria in a charming 800-year-old castle--a fairy-tale event surrounded by sunflower fields!

Other highlights included the works of Botticelli, Michelangelo's "David" and the canals of Venice. The food was fantastic (especially the gelato!), and we put 2,550 kilometers on our rental car as we drove from the Mediterranean to the Adriatic and explored many hill towns and churches.
