Jean K. Blinkovitch, 84, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012. She was born on March 11, 1928, in Binghamton, N.Y. She married her beloved husband, Julius J. Blinkovitch on Sept. 6, 1945, and travelled extensively with him during his 30-year career in the Marine Corps.
She had been a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church since 1964 and participated in the Christian Women's Club and the Polish American Club. She worked as a nursing assistant for Capitol Hospice for many years and served as a volunteer at Potomac Hospital for more than 20 years.
She enjoyed many activities during her lifetime but none so much as preparing delicious traditional Polish meals and pastries for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Julius; her children, Tina Ciervo and her husband, Bob, Nanette Hoback and her husband, John, Jeremy Blinkovitch and Judi Dumond and her husband, Marc; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Sara, Robert, Elliott and Elaine; and three great-grandchildren, Haley Grace, Noah and Cole.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, Va. 22192. A service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the Chapel on Marine Corps Base Quantico, with interment immediately following the service in Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to Capitol Hospice or the American Heart Association.
