The Virginia State Police is seeking the public's help in finding two Spotsylvania County residents accused of carjacking a pickup and abducting its driver following a crash in Caroline County.

According to state police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar, the incident began around 6:30 p.m. last Saturday when the driver of a 2006 Pontiac G6 ran through a stop sign and was hit by a 1998 Dodge Durango. The Pontiac was traveling east on Marye Road and the Dodge was traveling north on U.S. 1.

Molnar said the three people in the Pontiac were unhurt, but three of the five in the Dodge were taken to Mary Washington Hospital with serious injuries.

As Trooper M.C. Hite was assisting the injured, a woman driving the Pontiac and a man in the back seat left the scene on foot, Molnar said. Witnesses reported seeing them get into a nearby pickup.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., the troopers at the crash scene in Woodford, south of Thornburg, were approached by a man who said two people had forced him to use his pickup to drive them away from the scene.

The driver said he drove the man and woman west on Marye Road for about half a mile, when the man ordered him to stop the truck. The two then ran from the truck into the woods, Molnar said.

The pickup driver told police that the man claimed to have a gun, Molnar said.

Cheryl Ruedi, 22, of the 4000 block of Twilight Lane in Spotsylvania, faces several charges, including felony hit-and-run, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and failure to obey a highway sign, Molnar said. Ruedi is also wanted by the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office on a charge of grand larceny of a stolen vehicle.

She is described as white, about 5 feet 2 inches tall, 125 pounds with green eyes and brown hair.

Trent Brooks, 20, of the 4000 block of Twilight Lane in Spotsylvania, faces charges of abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, carjacking, hit-and-run, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm with an active protective order, brandishing a firearm, and assault, Molnar said. Brooks is also wanted by the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office for assault on a family member.

He is described as black, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, 160 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
