Shirley Wrath Sweazey, 93, of Spotsylvania County, formerly of Delray Beach, Fla., and Cary, Ill., passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Hughes Home.

Mrs. Sweazey was born January 26, 1919, in Big Sandy, Mont. She was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed dancing.

Survivors include her son Stephen G. Sweazey and wife Cheryl; brother James Wrath; grandchildren David Sweazey and wife Moira and Michael Sweazey and wife Jennifer; and great-grandchildren Ian, Miles, Jack and Miller Sweazey.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Wesley Sweazey; parents Harry and Esther Wrath; son Robert John Sweazey; brothers John and Harry Wrath; and sister Virginia Webber Rietz.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
