Ellen Elizabeth Walters Yeakle, 95, of Colonial Beach passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012.

Ellen was born April 25, 1917, in Washington, D.C., to Helen Petitte Brill and John Walters. She married Joseph Yeakle on April 2, 1966, in Bailey's Crossroads.

Prior to her retirement, Ellen worked for the federal government in civil service. She was a Senior Regent and lifetime member of the Women of the Moose. Ellen loved entertaining family and friends at her Colonial Beach home. Her hobbies included bowling, decorating, gardening, collecting lawn ornaments, taking long drives in the Virginia countryside and cheering her Washington Redskins.

Ellen is survived by a son, John A. Dugan Jr.; grandchildren Kathy Dugan Eickhoff (Bob) and John A. Dugan III; great-grandchildren Matt Eickhoff (Lori), Maddie Eickhoff and Bethani Dugan; brother George Brill (Pat); and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Ellen's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. Interment will follow in Historyland Memorial Park, King George.
