Russell Clotis Carter, 81, of Spotsylvania County passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at his residence.
He was a construction worker. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Locust Grove.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Bell Carter.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Percy and James of Spotsylvania and Leon of Fredericksburg; daughter Rosemary Carter of Spotsylvania; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mildred Lewis of Locust Grove, Lucille Groom of Washington, D.C., Mary Alice Banks of Spotsylvania and Catherine Carter of Woodbridge; two sisters-in-law; special daughter Diane Tyler; special grandson Dale Thrash; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Locust Grove. Burial will be in Lewistown Cemetery.
