City man dies in Prince William crash
A Fredericksburg man has died after a five-vehicle crash in Prince William County late Saturday.
According to Officer Jason Perok of the Prince William County Police Department, police went to the area of Dumfries Road and Talon Drive in Dumfries around 11:05 p.m. for a crash.
The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, a 17-year-old girl from Stafford County, was traveling south on Dumfries Road when the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic on northbound Dumfries Road, Perok said.
Once in the northbound lanes, Perok said, the vehicle struck four others, one of which was a 2000 Mercury Marquis.
The driver of the Mercury, a 51-year-old man from Fredericksburg, had serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where he died Sunday morning. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
His identity has not been released yet pending notification of next of kin, Perok said.
No other injuries were reported and the crash is under investigation, he said.
