Obama's Marxist policies: Not the American way

For those who embrace Judaism and Christianity, including those who simply care, a cursory examination of President Obama's proclaimed redistribution of wealth economic philosophy clearly violates the Seventh and Tenth Commandments that admonish us not to steal and not to covet thy neighbor's property.

The essence of liberty and freedom is the right to private property and to enjoy the fruits of one's labor. Absolute control over the disposition of one's property is included in that sacred right. Most of us do not resist payment of taxes for essential government services, but regard the government's intention to confiscate material manifestations of productive citizens and give it to the unproductive, to--as Obama puts it--"level the playing field" and "give everyone a fair shot" as excessive, immoral, and unconstitutional.

To promulgate this Marxist policy, the administration resorts to class warfare, "paying your fair share," and creating massive entitlements, such as the Affordable Health Care that Democrats Howard Dean and Max Baucus described as a "form of redistribution."

The administration's former head of the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services also declared in 2010, "Any health care plan that is just, equitable, civilized, and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and less fortunate. Excellent health care by definition is redistributional."

Most Americans acknowledge a requirement for a basic safety net for those in need, augmented by charity and nongovernmental agencies, but reject forced government redistribution on religious, moral, and legal grounds. It is not the American way.
