'ANGELS' TOUR VISITS
Alan Pedersen, a songwriter and bereaved father, will bring his "Angels Across the USA Tour" to the Fredericksburg area on Oct. 16.
He'll perform for the Fredericksburg chapter of Compassionate Friends, a support group for parents whose children have died. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 5102 Harrison Road, in Spotsylvania County.
It is free and open to the public.
Pederson, who has performed more than 25 years, spent several years in Nashville writing and recording music, according to his website.
After his daughter, Ashley, was killed in an automobile accident in August 2001, he began writing about the pain and his journey toward trying to find joy again. He wrote four CDs filled with original songs about his experience.

ROSNER HAS GOLF OPEN FOR WARRIORS
Cannon Ridge Golf Club in Stafford County will host the third annual Rosner Automotive Group Pro-Wounded Warrior Golf Tournament on Monday. The event provides the chance for 18 wounded warriors to play golf and raises money for the Salute Military Golf Association. SMGA uses golf to provide rehabilitative experiences for wounded war veterans and their families.
Each team at the tournament will be made up on one Mid-Atlantic PGA professional, two sponsoring amateurs and one wounded warrior. Amateurs pay a $1,000 fee to play in the event; the veterans are guests of the club.
The tournament will start with a golf clinic featuring one of the veterans at 11 a.m. It is open to the public and hosted by Jim Estes, PGA director of golf instruction at Olney Golf Park and co-founder of SMGA.
The clinic will be followed by lunch, then a "shotgun start" golf tournament at 1 p.m., followed by a dinner and cocktail party.
Donations to the SMGA can be made through their website at smga.org.
