Council requests public input about Eleanor Trailer Park at council meeting
BY REBECCA J. BARNABI
Colonial Beach residents are invited to offer their thoughts Thursday on what to do with what once was the site of the Eleanor Trailer Park.
According to Town Manager Valerie Foulds, the Town Council has considered selling the 3.47-acre piece of property it owns or creating a park there, but council members remain open to suggestions.
"It really depends on what comes out of the public input section," Foulds said.
The topic was raised during a recent committee meeting in which town property was discussed. In 2010, the council voted for residents to vacate the trailer park.
Foulds said that at the time no decision was made as to what to do with the now-vacant property. There is still "no proposed action--it's kind of wide open at this point," Foulds said.
Foulds said she does not know if the council will discuss the matter or make a decision Thursday after hearing from the public. Five of the seven seats on the council are up for re-election in November. The current council may wait and let the new council decide.
The Town Council meets the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Town Center, 22 Washington Ave.
