Friends have set up a poker run fundraiser for Spotsylvania's Griczin family to help them deal with expenses caused by the April car crash that seriously injured Katelyn Griczin.

The teenager is still recovering but has been able to start taking classes at the University of Mary Washington.

The family and the driver of the truck that crashed head-on into Katelyn's car in April have insurance, but bills have still cost the family thousands.

Marjorie Griczin, Katelyn's mother, said the family has filed for bankruptcy.

The poker run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13. It costs $25 per hand. The best hand wins an iPod Nano, and gift cards will be raffled.

The poker run starts at Printpack, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. The run starts at 10:30 a.m.

Each player will get a sheet with all 52 cards on it. The first card will be drawn at Printpack. Players then will get the other four cards at stops along the way, with the final stop at Hooters off of U.S. 1 in Spotsylvania.

After Printpack, players will make four other stops:

Catt and Custom Leather.

Renegade Classics.

Big Daddy's Leather.

Hooters.

Once all participants reach Hooters, the best hand will be determined and prizes will be handed out.

The family also has set up a trust fund at SunTrust to help Katelyn.

Donations can be made at the bank to the Katelyn M. Griczin Trust.
