Virginia Dew Phillippe Clarke, 88, of Partlow died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.
Virginia was a lifelong active member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church. She held many offices in the United Methodist Women and had been a member of the choir. She was a loving wife, mother, nannie and foster mom. Virginia loved cooking and entertaining family and friends at her home.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, James A. "Johnnie" Clarke; four children, Shirley Jean Waller and husband Bobby of Partlow, Rebecca Stephens of Fredericksburg, Linda Payne and husband Charles of Fredericksburg and Jimmy Clarke and wife Kathy of Partlow; six grandchildren, Julie Moore, Kristen Smith, Tracey Workman, Neil Payne, Jessica Braden and Jamie Clarke; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Herman Phillippe of Spotsylvania County; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sallie and Harrison Phillippe; sisters Gladys Shelkett and Verna Lacy; and brother Cliff Phillippe.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
