Natalie Frances Maas, 90, of Fredericksburg passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Heartfields Assisted Living.
Mrs. Maas was born in Ohio on Aug. 9, 1922, to Herbert and Elizabeth McNierney. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John B. Maas Jr.; and sister Marcia Plantz.
She is survived by two sons, John B Maas III (Pattie) and Kevin Maas (Pip); two daughters, Gretchen Maas-Scott, and Meredith Beckett (Jon); seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Maas was a longtime member of the Woman's Club of Fredericksburg.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, 1621 Jefferson Davis Highway. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Saint Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Following the burial, friends are invited to a reception at 1:30 p.m. on the 3rd floor of Heartfields Assisted Living, 20 Heartfields Lane, Fredericksburg.
Mrs. Maas' family thanks the caring staff of Heartfields Assisted Living in Fredericksburg, where she resided for the past seven years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Jack Maas Detachment of the Marine Corps League, Box 7515, Fredericksburg, Va. 22404, to assist the Wounded Warrior Project.
