H "DREDD" (R) More a dreary shoot-'em-up than a futuristic tale. Not worth the trip. Rated R for strong bloody violence, language, drug use, sexual content. 96 min. [RF]

HHH "END OF WATCH" (R) Despite the needless shaky camera footage, this is a gripping look at two L.A. patrolmen who share a cruiser. Rated R for strong violence, disturbing images, pervasive language including sexual references, and some drug use. 109 min. [RA, RF]

HH "HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET" (PG-13) Jennifer Lawrence makes this thriller about a house where dark secrets linger better than expected. Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and terror, thematic elements, language, teen partying and brief drug material. 101 min. [RF]

HH "HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA" (PG) While nothing deep, this tale of Dracula worrying about his daughter leaving the nest is funny and fine for kids. Rated PG for some rude humor, action and scary images. 95 min. [MC, RA, RF]

HHH "LOOPER" (R) Despite time-travel contradictions, this tale of a killer who confronts the notion of evil is captivating. Rated R for violence, language, sexuality/nudity, drug content. 119 min. [MC, PV, RA]

HH "THE MASTER" (R) Strong performances from Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix are wasted because the film about a cult leader goes nowhere. Rated R for sexual content, graphic nudity and language. 136 min. [RF]

HH "TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE" (PG-13) This tale of a baseball scout with age issues works despite Clint Eastwood's so-so performance, the credit going more to stars Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake. Rated PG-13 for language, sexual references, thematic material. 111 min. [RF]

HH "WON'T BACK DOWN" (PG) Though it strikes some emotional chords, this tale of a mom trying to reinvent her poor school doesn't feel real. Rated PG for thematic elements, language. 101 min. [RA, RF]
