The following students have been selected as the Fredericksburg Optimist Club's Students of the Month for September.
;">Sandra Adounvo, daughter of Claude and Victoria Adounvo was selected at Mountain View High School. She is a full IB Diploma candidate and is also involved in Color Guard and Model United Nations. She is secretary of the National Honor Society, vice president of Future Business Leaders of America, and vice president of the French Club. Sandra is very active in her community, having completed more than 300 hours for both Learn and Serve and CAS. Sandra is planning to continue her education at the college level on a pre-law track with an interdisciplinary major and a minor in French.
;">Deana Hamlin, daughter of Leon and Teresa Hamlin was selected at Brooke Point High School. She is involved in a multitude of activities, including Commonwealth Governor's School, Girls Nation and Girls State, tennis team, Latin Club, Latin Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Leadership Team, Model United Nations, HOSA and summer mentorship at the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. Stafford County Sun and Mary Washington Hospital. She is president of SCA, DECA, FBLA and National Honor Society.
Deana has received many awards, including cum laude on the National Latin Exam, numerous DECA competition placements, scholarship for John Marshall's Law School and top four finalist in the National Barr Association Evett L. Simmons Mock Trial Competition and more
She is a volunteer at Special Olympics, Thurman Brisben Center, Marian Manor, Fredericksburg Area Museum, Fredericksburg Food Bank, and participated in the Apple Federal Credit Union Woman's Basketball Tournament. Deana plans to attend a four-year college and focus on a career in law and engineering,
;">Gregory Allison Jr., son of Greg and Kristi Allison, was selected at James Monroe High School. He is president of the Key Club, varsity football captain, SCA treasurer and participates in varsity swimming state relay team, varsity track, varsity baseball, National Honor Society, FBLA, Leadership Club, KOM Council and Athletic Concussion Committee.
He was named a Monroe Scholar and Outstanding CIS Student. Gregory plans to apply to University of Virginia and University of Richmond.
