I watched with great interest the debate between President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, hoping to get a better understanding of why the Romney-Ryan ticket is so appealing to Republicans. This enlightening experience made it crystal-clear.
Romney was full of hyperbole, hypocrisy, propaganda, and parsing the truth, as well as flip-flopping on all the issues he has taken over the past year. This has been the motif of the Republican Party since 1980 so I should not have expected any revisions to this trend.
Consider the following: If the "trickle down" voodoo economic policies of the Republican Party since 1980 had worked, then the economic meltdown of 2008 should not have occurred. After all, Republicans have held the White House and the Senate 20 of the last 28 years, and both the Senate and House from 1995 to 2007!
I do agree with one statement by the Republicans: This election is about the future of the country. A vote for this Republican ticket will continue past failed Republican voodoo economic polices.
