James P. "Hogie" Garnett Jr. passed in his home on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. "No need for introduction everyone knows him."
Hogie loved playing and watching sports and spending time with his friends. He was a 2012 inductee into the James Monroe High School Hall of Fame. He received his bachelor's degree from Glenville State.
Survivors include his daughters, Jaime E. Moran and husband Albert and Whitney B.R. Garnett and fiance Daniel; mother of his children Beatrice T. Verna; sisters Nancy McPhatter and husband Franklin, and Beverly Garnett; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James P. Garnett Sr. and Margaret Garnett.
A celebration of his life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Knights of Pythias, 330 Wallace Lane, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407.
Memorials may be made in memory of "Hogie" to the James Monroe High School Athletic Dept., 2300 Washington Ave., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.
