Return to story
Col. Robert D. "Bob" Priest (Ret. USAF) of Fredericksburg died Oct. 6, 2012, after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer.
Bob was born Nov. 25, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Leo and Norma Priest who raised him in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He married Sharon Linn in 1957, and they had 55 beautiful years together.
They have three children; a son, Jeffrey, and daughters Marti and Gerri. He is also the proud grandfather of Maria, Ben, Devyn and Davis.
Col. Priest had a distinguished career as a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force, a highlight of which was serving with the Royal Air Force in England and Scotland. His 26 years included a highly decorated combat tour in Vietnam. After retirement, Bob enjoyed a second career locally with the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association and the Silver Company.
Bob and his family were intensely dedicated to each other and their extremely strong, loving connections won't be broken by death.
His family will be honoring him with a service, which will include burial at Arlington Cemetery. A reception will follow. This service will be held in early January.
