Budget wedding site opens in Spotsylvania
A new wedding chapel offering an affordable place to get married opened earlier this month at 4412 Lafayette Blvd. in Spotsylvania County.
The Little Wedding House is a partnership between Mark and Tammie Gaines, who also own a local DJ company called M-T Music, and Virginia Chilton, longtime owner of Weddings by Ginny.
The trio can host up to 25 people at their new facility.
Insurer expands into Fredericksburg area
Bankers Life and Casualty Co., a national life and health insurer, has opened an office off State Route 3 in Fredericksburg.
The sales office at 1931 Plank Road is the company's fourth in Virginia. It also has locations in Richmond, Chantilly and Norfolk.
The office was opened "to enhance the service provided to local customers and the expanding senior market along the I-95 corridor, as well as to enhance recruiting efforts," according to a press release from the company. The company plans to add agents at the office.
Castiglia's opens new bar area downtown
The latest addition to Castiglia's in downtown Fredericksburg is now complete.
An expanded bar area opened Tuesday afternoon at Luigi Castiglia's popular restaurant at 324 William St. The eatery was closed Monday to make final preparations for the opening.
The new area, which replaces a smaller bar on the other side of Castiglia's, is in the former location of a market called Bella Italia. Part of a wall that was dividing the space from the main restaurant area was taken down, allowing customers to walk from the bar to the restaurant. The new section, which includes two new bathrooms, will offer a tapas menu in addition to the full bar.
It's the latest makeover for Castiglia's. Last year, Luigi Castiglia renovated the restaurant's interior and added a wood-burning brick oven that cooks Neapolitan pizzas in front of customers. He is hoping to add a rooftop bar and balcony, and a large private dining area at the back of his building that would be accessed from the Charles Street side.
Concert in Lights returning on Nov. 10
The Concert in Lights holiday music and light show will return to The Village at Towne Centre this year, starting Nov. 10.
The event will be held nightly at 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 from Nov. 10 through Dec. 31.
This will be the second year for the computer-synchronized Concert in Lights. Last year's event received a national award from the International Council of Shopping Centers that recognizes "excellence and innovation in retail marketing."
Cheesecake Factory to open soon off I-95
The Cheesecake Factory will open its new restaurant at Potomac Mills mall on Nov. 7.
The Cheesecake Factory is one of the businesses that Fredericksburg-area residents most frequently cite when asked what new retailers and restaurants they'd like to see here. The opening at the Woodbridge shopping complex gives local fans of the restaurant, which has sixth other Virginia locations, a closer option. The restaurant will have an 8,032-square-foot dining room and 2,234-square-foot patio.
Two other new restaurants--Bahama Breeze and Bobby's Burger Palace--are scheduled to open at Potomac Mills in the next few months.
Skin-care practice will move to Spotsylvania
A skin-care practice that rents space on Princess Anne Street near Carl's in Fredericksburg plans to renovate a new office for the business in Spotsylvania County.
Wack General Contractor will soon begin renovating a 7,500-square-foot office building at 3501 Lafayette Blvd. for The Dermatology Center and Glow MD Laser MedSpa, a pair of related businesses that plan to move to the new site this spring.
The two businesses are now on different floors of a medical office building on Princess Anne Street. The new facility will allow them to co-locate in a building owned by an affiliate of the company.
