Willie Sykes was born June 17, 1935, in Stafford County. He departed this life Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Stafford Hospital.
Mr. Sykes was a construction worker who loved to go hunting and fishing. He also loved to fix lawnmowers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Sykes.
He leaves to mourn his 10 children, Jesse Parker of Woodbridge, Daisy Ann Hylton of Fredericksburg, Gloria V. Jackson of Stafford, Karen Parker Jackson of Spotsylvania County, Hazel Dotson of Stafford, Willie Sykes of Manassas, David Sykes of Haynesville, Mitchell Sykes of Fredericksburg, Ray Sykes of Fredericksburg and Geralene Sykes of Woodbridge; three sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one devoted friend, PeeWee.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Shiloh Old Site Church cemetery in Stafford.
