James Michael "Big Mike" Bumbry Sr. of King George County died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mike was the assistant manager and a member of the Harmonies of Faith Quartet. He was past worshipful master of King George Masonic Lodge 314, past commander and chief consistery at Lodge 346, Fredericksburg, and past potentate Magnus Temple 3 in Alexandria.
He leaves his wife, LaVerne Bumbry of King George; two sons, James Michael Bumbry Jr. of King George and Bryan F. Williams of Woodbridge; two daughters, Regina Lewis of King George and Christel Ebony Norwood of Suitland, Md.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Jocelyn Bumbry Mitchell of Fort Washington, Md., and Charlotte Brumbry Foote and husband Wycliffe of Aquasco, Md.; and two brothers, Rayfield Paul Bumbry Sr. of King George and Frederick C. Bumbry of Surfside, S.C.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Little Ark Baptist Church, Owens. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the church, with the Rev. Larry Robinson officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery.
