Helen E. Harlow, 80, of Stafford County passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mrs. Harlow was born March 1, 1932, in Fauquier County. She drove a school bus for Stafford County public schools for 22 years. She adored the children and they all called her "Mom." Mrs. Harlow later worked for the shoe factory in Fredericksburg.
She loved her friends and family very much. Whatever she had, she gave away to others. Mrs. Harlow was always helping others in need, taking food to the sick and shut-in, visiting the nursing homes and helping whenever she could. She also enjoyed being outside and planting flowers in her garden.
For more than 40 years Mrs. Harlow and her husband were members of Falmouth Baptist Church, where they taught Sunday School. She was also a member of Berea Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Claude Harlow Sr.; daughters Darlene Claudette Courtney and Debra Louise Tyson; granddaughter Kathy Louise Sullivan; and great-granddaughter Abigail Louise Sullivan. She also leaves behind her favorite dog, Barney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Thomas Elam Sr. and Lorelle Creel Elam; and son Claude Harlow Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
Services will be private.
