Halloween is often a kid-centered celebration, but this weekend Potomac Point Winery will provide an event for adults to take part in the festivities.

The Chamber Chorale of Fredericksburg and singer Patrick A'Hearn will perform a Halloween dinner concert at the winery on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m.

Musical selections include spooky themes from "Harry Potter," "The Addams Family," "Little Shop of Horrors," "Sweeney Todd," "Les Miserables" and "Wicked."

A'Hearn, who has performed on Broadway, will present songs from "Jekyll and Hyde," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Phantom," among other selections. A'Hearn is also the associate artistic director at Riverside Dinner Theatre.

These songs fit well with the Halloween theme because they feature "wounded characters that people often dress up as for Halloween," A'Hearn said.

He described the dinner concert setup as a "Broadway cabaret concert."

For the Halloween-themed concert, the chorale, which often performs in churches, had to find a more appropriate venue.

The winery was the perfect place.

"The setting is just beautiful," said Patti Kerns, president of the Chamber Chorale of Fredericksburg.

Kerns said this concert is unique not just because of the Halloween theme, but because it includes dinner and other festivities.

"Frequently, you'll go to a concert, and that's it," Kerns said.

The dinner is buffet-style, and wine and desserts will be available for an additional charge.

Those attending are invited to get creative with their wardrobe, as there will be costume contests with bottles of wine as prizes.
