Maude E. "Betty" Payne, 86, of Fredericksburg died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mrs. Payne was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She had worked at the FMC plant for many years and at Hughes Home. She was an avid gardener and a devoted friend. She enjoyed spending time with all of her neighbors. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Frank Payne and wife Anne of Hanover County; three grandchildren, Eric Payne and wife Carrie, Daniel Payne and wife McKenzie and Elizabeth Fagan and husband Mark; and six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Shane, Molly, Jack, Gabriel and Emma.

A graveside service will be held at noon Friday, Oct. 26, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
