El-Said El-Sayed Shalaby, 77, of Fredericksburg and Cairo, Egypt, known to many as "Doc" due to his Ph.D. from Purdue University, died in Fredericksburg on Friday, Oct. 25, 2012.
Dr. Shalaby had a management consulting and training business in Cairo and worked throughout the Middle East. He later established a base in Fredericksburg, and brought trainees to the U.S. to foster knowledge of the American language and culture.
Doc is survived by his dedicated caregiver and loving wife of 50 years, Salwa Fouad Shalaby; and his three devoted sons, of whom he was so very proud, Sameh and Samer of Fredericksburg and Sameer of New York; and their wives, Nagla, Cathy and Irene. He was "Gidou" to five handsome grandsons, Karim, Ziyad, Tarek, Mazzen and Yaseen, and three lovely granddaughers, Dahlia, Nadia and Lamees, all of whom delighted him.
A member of the Islamic Center of Fredericksburg, Dr. Shalaby was buried immediately according to Islamic tradition. Friends are invited to visit the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Found & Sons, 10719 Courthouse Road. There will be a brief service at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to the American Diabetes Association or any worthy cause would be a welcome memorial.
