Walnut Hills United Pentecostal Church, 11506 Brian Drive, will hold a fall festival on Oct. 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., featuring an obstacle course, arts and crafts sale, food, games, Spotsylvania Fire and Rescue, Christian concerts all day and more. All fun and games are free.

Church of the Messiah, Episcopal, 12201 Spotswood Furnace Lane, will celebrate Consecration Sunday on Oct. 28. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services. churchofmessiah.org.

Massaponax Baptist Church, at the intersection of U.S. 1 and State Route 608, will hold Trunk 'n' Treat on Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m. Refreshments will be served. 540/898-0021.

Resurrection Lutheran Church, 6170 Plank Road, will celebrate the Festival of Reformation/Reconciliation on Oct. 28. The sermon by Pastor Jim Kniseley will help worshippers remember the Reformation-sparking 95 Theses by Martin Luther in 1517 and the reconciliation these days between Roman Catholics and Lutherans. The congregation will sing "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" at both the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services. Sylvannah Baptist Church, 8400 Courthouse Road, will observe Women's Missionary Annual Day on Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Zachary Williams, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Spotsylvania will be the guest speaker. Dinner will be served following the morning worship. 540/582-5138.

Mount Hermon Baptist Church, Day's Bridge Road, will hold a ladies' awareness/self-defense class taught by Liz Scott of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office, on Oct. 27, noon-4 p.m., in the fellowship hall. It is open to women and girls of all ages. Please wear loose-fitting clothes and athletic shoes. The class is free. 540/895-9307.

Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site), 801 Sophia St., will celebrate Foreign Mission Sunday on Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Minister Louise Green of Little Union Baptist Church.
