Recently, we were babysitting our grandchildren and took them to the Fredericksburg Fire Department open house. It was fun with the moonwalk, train ride, and remote-control fire engine. What child doesn't like popcorn, hot dogs, and cookies?

It was very educational, with the children learning how to use a fire extinguisher, visiting the simulated house with fire safety tips and infrared camera room, and trying the physical fitness test and other displays.

Congratulations to the fire department for a job well done.
