James D. Faircloth

James Dennis Faircloth, 73, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Faith; his daughter, Alice Zenger-Jones; sons James and David; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many close friends.

Born and raised in Washington, D.C., the son of Earl and Helen Faircloth, he was a lifelong resident of the Washington metropolitan area.

Mr. Faircloth and his wife were high school sweethearts, married young and started a family. Mr. Faircloth worked three jobs at a time to provide for his family and went to trade school, where he became qualified as a first class steam engineer. He then started a career with Safeway Corp., where he earned a reputation for his wealth of knowledge and the quality of his work, retiring after 33 years of dedicated service.

In his retirement years, Mr. Faircloth became an avid and accomplished bowler. He bowled on several teams at the AMF Bowling Alley in Fredericksburg.

A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1621 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg, Va. 22401, where a funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fredericksburg.
