Maxine Hinton Ganger, 92, of Fredericksburg passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Hughes Home in Fredericksburg.
Born in Robley, Mrs. Ganger moved in 1940 to the Washington, D.C., area, where she attended George Washington University.
She was the widow of Robert E. Ganger and is survived by her children, Carol V. King and Bruce H. Ganger of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, Robert C. King of Arlington, Carl H. King of Fredericksburg, Virginia S. King of Charleston, S.C., Paige L. Ganger of Harrisonburg and Preston H. Ganger of Fredericksburg; and one great-grandchild, Jude R. Ganger of Fredericksburg.
In retirement, Maxine was active in volunteer activities in White Stone, where she settled in 1973 and lived for 25 years. She enjoyed writing poems for her grandchildren, and was a gifted quilter and needlepointer.
She was a member of Farnham Baptist Church in Farnham for over 85 years, and also a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church.
Maxine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Family will receive friends and a viewing will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m Saturday, Nov. 10, at Farnham Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, is handling arrangements.
