Mary Susan Williams Gray, 92, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.
Mary was born and raised in Fredericksburg. She received her education in the Fredericksburg city public schools and graduated from Walker-Grant High School as the salutatorian of her class.
Mary was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site), where she was a member of the EverReady Club and the Willing Workers Club and served on the Senior Usher Board. "Mary Sue," as she was affectionately known, was also a member of the Progressors Social Club.
Mary was the secretary at Walker Grant Middle School for 26 years until her retirement in 1986.
Mary Sue married Roland Gray and they were able to celebrate 66 anniversaries before his passing in December 2007. Out of that union came their daughter, Patricia.
Mary Sue was a loving and caring person. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter, Patricia G. Buckner and her husband, Franklin R. Buckner; two sisters-in-law, Mary Williams of Wake Forest, N.C., and Emmaline Gray of Fredericksburg; two brothers-in-law, Wilbur Gray of Fredericksburg and Frank Gray of Tappahannock; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends.
