A local bouncer has been accused of going too far in his effort to control a brawl in a Fredericksburg nightclub early Saturday, police said.

Kynn Garrison, 34, of Stafford County is charged with malicious wounding for his role in an altercation that took place about 1:10 a.m. at Aladdin's at 2052 Plank Road.

According to Bledsoe, officers went to the nearby Quality Inn that morning in response to a call from a man who was involved in the ruckus. The man, a 26-year-old Spotsylvania County resident, told police that a fight broke out involving some 12 to 15 people.

The man said he had no idea what started the fight and that he got involved only because his friend was getting beaten up. As he was trying to help the friend, according to his account, a bouncer struck him in the head with a retractable baton.

The blow left a large laceration and a "golf-ball-sized" knot on the head of the victim. The man declined to go to the hospital, but he did accompany police back to Aladdin's, where he identified Garrison as the bouncer who hit him.

While investigating the incident, Bledsoe said, police spoke with another patron who had injuries that he claimed had come from being hit by one of the bouncers. However, that man could not identify who had hit him.

Bledsoe said someone from the business also called police to report the fight, but said it was under control. The altercation was over when police arrived. No one told police what started the fight.

Garrison was placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
