ATV theft leads to arrest of three in Culpeper
BY DONNIE JOHNSTON
A search for an ATV allegedly stolen in King William County led to the arrest of three Culpeper County residents Tuesday night.
According to Culpeper County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Corey Byers, deputies searched a home on Batna Road in Lignum and discovered what they suspect is the stolen ATV.
After arresting 45-year-old Stephon J. Scott and charging him with receiving stolen goods, deputies searched his brother's home on Jacob's Ford Road, Byers said.
There, just after midnight, they found what they suspect is 4 pounds of packaged marijuana, and arrested 29-year-old Michael A. Scott and 23-year-old Katherine M. Howard.
Michael Scott was charged with possession of stolen goods, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm while in possession of marijuana. Howard was charged with accessory to possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Deputies confiscated two enclosed trailers, a Pontiac sedan, three motorcycles and a motor scooter--"all believed to either be purchased using money from the sale of illegal drugs or used in the distribution of illegal drugs," Byers said. They also seized more than $1,000 in cash and a semiautomatic rifle, Byers said.
Howard was released on a $1,500 secured bond, while Stephon Scott was released on a $2,000 secured bond.
Michael Scott is being held without bond.
