Ruth Evelyn Edenton, 92, of Woodford passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at her son's home.
Mrs. Edenton was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for more than 60 years, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a member of Women's Missionary Union and taught Bible school.
Survivors include her sons, Henry C. Edenton Jr. (Nancy) and Robert M. Edenton (Debbie Minarchi); brother William P. Hockaday (Pauline); sisters Leah H. Jones, Helen H. Longest and Catharine H. Mathis; four grandchildren, Glenda Edenton (Patrick), Troy Edenton (Wendy), Kim Sickel (John) and Jonathan Edenton; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Molder, Robert T. Edenton, Ryan Higgins, Corinne Edenton and Mason Sickel; and loving friend and caregiver Beverly Garner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.C. "Cliff" Edenton Sr.; her parents, Roderick and Lottie Hockaday; and brother Raymond Hockaday.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
