Here are some odds and ends from the world of Fredericksburg-area business over the past few days.

The Buy Buy Baby store has opened in the former Shoppers Food & Pharmacy space in Central Park. It's next to another newly opened store, And That (which is run by Christmas Tree Shops).

Mike Adams' general contracting company, JON Properties LLC, has hired Todd Sullivan to run a new division that erects pre-engineered metal buildings. Sullivan had been general manager for almost 30 years at Spotsylvania County-based Associated Systems Inc., which remains open.

JON Properties has started construction on a 40,000-square-foot medical office building at 450 Garrisonville Road that was designed by NBJ Architecture. Adams said about half the space is leased, including by Central Virginia Orthopaedics and Advance Spine and Pain, and he said the first practices will move in next summer or fall.

Fredericksburg-based environmental consulting company Marstel-Day and joint-venture partner LRS Federal have received a contract from the Veterans Administration that could be worth up to $7 million over five years.

Hair Cuttery has signed a lease to occupy the former Super Cuts space at Cosner's Corner, said Donny Self, a Silver Commercial Brokerage agent who worked on the lease. The 1,500-square-foot space is in a multi-tenant building with Moe's Southwest Grill, Virginia ABC and Smoothie King. Hair Cuttery plans to open in mid-April.

The Virginia Sports Complex's owner has applied for an ABC license to sell wine and beer at the Caroline County facility.

A foreclosure auction on a multi-tenant retail building at 10141-10159 Jefferson Davis Highway in the Cosner's Corner shopping center has been scheduled for Dec. 4. The auction will be at 11 a.m. in front of Spotsylvania Circuit Court. Tenants at the building include Five Guys, Kappa Garden Sushi Bistro and C&R Carpet & Rugs. The sale won't affect their businesses. Global K Inc. owns the building, and Woori America Bank is the lender.
