Too early: Why rush the Christmas season?

On Nov. 10, Christmas decorations and Santa Claus already decorated the streets of downtown Fredericksburg! Why does the Christmas season get moved ahead more and more each year? Children are still eating their Halloween candy, and Thanksgiving is yet to come.

I remember living in Fredericksburg and experiencing the magic of Santa arriving downtown at the end of the annual Christmas parade. It was so exciting, and children were in awe. I challenge you all, merchants, radio stations, newspapers, parents, etc., that if you are going to start the Christmas season early, you keep it going until Jan. 6, "Little Christmas," the day of gifts and the day when Christmas traditionally came to a close.
