Parade, luminaria set in Spotsylvania

Spotsylvania County will host two holiday events this Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday at 1 p.m. in the 35th annual Spotsylvania Christmas Parade. This year's theme is "Christmas in Hawaii."

About 3,000 people are expected to line the parade route, which extends from Spotsylvania Middle School into the Merchant Square area.

Shirley Boggs and Betty Turnley, winners of the county's Governor Spotswood Award for 2012, have been invited to participate.

There will be 93 units this year, up from last year's 72.

On Sunday at 4:45 p.m. will be the 10th annual Spotsylvania Courthouse Christmas Luminaria.

Volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 171 will light 500 candles at sunset near the historic courthouse.

The county's 1880 bell, cast by the Meneely Bell Foundry in West Troy, N.Y., will ring in the festivities.

Prep school sells citrus for holiday

Tree of Life Prep School in Spotsylvania County continues fundraising through February with Florida citrus available.

Falmouth church holding bazaar

Falmouth United Methodist Church, 28 Pegs Lane, will hold a bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The event will include baked goods, crafts, a yard sale, a raffle and lunch. Proceeds will benefit the church's community outreach program. Call 540/898-3575 for information.

tickets available for choral events

Tickets are available for the Blue Ridge Chorale's concert "Sing We Now of Christmas," with performances set for Friday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 9.

On Dec. 7 at 7 p.m., the group will perform for "An Evening Out" at the Prince Michel Vineyards and Winery, 154 Winery Lane in Leon. Hors d'oeuvres will be served and wine will be available for purchase. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

On Sunday at 4 p.m., the chorale will perform at Reynolds Memorial Church, 3898 Sperryville Pike in Sperryville. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.

vet clinic offering wellness package

The Thomas Beath Clinic, a nonprofit veterinary clinic in Falmouth is offering a wellness package for dogs under 40 pounds.
