Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania welcomed the holiday season with parades that drew hundreds on Saturday.
Spotsylvania's parade had a Hawaiian theme, with many of the floats decked out in colorful flowers and parade marchers in grass skirts and leis.
The afternoon parade was sunny and comfortable, while the evening one brought a chill.
Fredericksburg's parade had a fairy tale theme, with many floats featuring books as part of their displays.
The season would not be off to a proper start without the main attraction, Santa Claus, as the finale of each parade.
Spotsylvania's version had Santa in the bucket of a fire truck, while in Fredericksburg, he was in a sleigh full of children.
Cheers rang throughout the crowds as Santa made his way down the street in each parade.
Both featured several local organizations, including high school marching bands, who spread the holiday cheer with music.
