parenting group holding meeting

Attachment Parenting International of Fredericksburg meets the second Thursday of each month, with all parents and children welcome.

registration for soccer under way

Spring 2013 registration is open for the FSCI Recreation Academy League.

The academy provides weekly games and skills training from a licensed professional coach.

All games are local to Spotsylvania County. Registration is $60.

Ellwood Manor has Christmas event

Friends of Wilderness Battlefield will host the fourth annual "A 19th Century Christmas at Ellwood Manor" on Saturday.

Doors open at 9 a.m. and guests may visit until 2 p.m. The home will be decorated for Christmas by the Fawn Lake Garden Club. Friends of Wilderness Battlefield volunteer interpreters will welcome visitors.

The day will also include arts and crafts for children, cookies and punch, tours of the house, period Christmas music by Evergreen Shade, and readings of Christmas letters from Civil War soldiers.

golden sixty group will play bingo

The Golden Sixty and Above Group will have a meet-and-greet at the Enoch George Manor on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Group members will join residents for bingo.

church collecting food, clothes, toys

Freedom Church A/G will host a food/clothing/toy drive Monday, Dec. 17, 2-3 p.m., at the church in the Merchant Square building under the Spotsylvania Social Services offices at 9019 Old Battlefield Blvd., Suite 100J.

People are invited to donate nonperishable food, gently worn clothing or gently used toys.

cookie and gift sale slated thursday

The 18th annual Grandma's Homemade Favorites Holiday Cookie and Gift Sale will be Thursday, 4-8 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Warrenton Community Center, 430 E. Shirley Ave.

All proceeds benefit the Warrenton Adult Day Healthcare Center.
