Louisa juveniles may face charges
BY PORTSIA SMITH
Two juveniles in Louisa County could face charges for three incidents where an elementary school was broken into and items were stolen.
According to Maj. Donald Lowe of the Louisa County Sheriff's Office, officials at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School reported damage to some of the school's mobile units and that some electronic devices were missing.
Surveillance video showed two suspects forcing entry into the mobile units on Nov 10, 11 and 25, Lowe said. Each incident occurred after 12 a.m.
Lowe said two juveniles, ages 11 and 17, were identified as the suspects on Saturday and questioned. Most of the stolen items were recovered, Lowe said.
A Louisa County probation officer will review the circumstances and determine if charges will be placed during an intake hearing on Jan. 16, he said.
Thomas Jefferson Elementary School was one of the schools damaged last year during a magnitude-5.8 earthquake that struck the region. The mobile units were being used as classrooms while the original school is being rebuilt.
