Culpeper seeks leads in home invasion

December 14, 2012 12:10 am

Culpeper town police investigators are still seeking leads that may help solve a 14-month-old home invasion and assault.

About 9 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2011, an 86-year-old man answered the door at his McCoy Avenue residence and found two men who beat him, pushed their way inside and ransacked the house.

One of the men is described as white, in his 20s and about 5 feet 10 inches tall, according to town public information officer Wally Bunker. The only description of the second man is that he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

"We have looked into all the leads provided so far, but we need more information," said Detective Richard Brooking. "We hope that someone will step forward to help us solve this violent crime."

The victim has spent much time in hospitals and rehabilitation centers and has never fully recovered from the beating, officials said.

Anyone with information on the incident may contact Detective Brooking at 540/829-5004 or Crime Solvers at 540/727-0300. Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
