(New) On Tuesday, demolition work will begin at the U.S. 1/U.S. 17/State Route 218 intersection at Falmouth. Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in this area. All lanes are expected to remain open during the demolition process. This work is in connection with the Falmouth Intersection Improvement Project.
State Route 208 (Spotsylvania County Bypass Project Phase II)
Be alert to new traffic pattern on State Route 208 between Robert E. Lee Drive and Post Oak Road. Construction continues on the final segment of the Spotsylvania Courthouse Bypass from Post Oak Road to just east of the Ta River near Lake Anna. Completion date is February.
State Route 3 widening project (Spotsylvania County Project)
This widening project of State Route 3 is located between Chewning Lane and Gordon Road.
Smith Station Road and Piedmont Drive (Spotsylvania County Project)
Work is under way at the intersection of Smith Station Road and Piedmont Drive. The Spotsylvania County roadway improvement project includes widening the road and installation of a new traffic signal. Motorists in the vicinity of this work zone should follow designated detour signs.
U.S. 1 bridge over Aquia Creek
Crews are mobilizing equipment on U.S. 1 at Aquia Creek, located just south of Telegraph Road, in preparation for replacement of the bridge. All four lanes will remain open during the course of the project, however motorists may periodically experience brief delays in the work zone. Motorists should be alert to construction equipment entering and exiting the work zone. The project is expected to be complete in August 2015.
State Route 207 bridge replacement
Work is under way to replace the westbound Route 207 bridge over the CSX railroad tracks. Eastbound and westbound traffic have been shifted to the eastbound State Route 207 bridge. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph in work zone. Estimated completion date for the project is May.
KING GEORGE COUNTY
U.S. 301 bridge over Rappahannock
Work is under way on the U.S. 301 bridge over the Rappahannock River. The bridge connects King George County and Caroline County at Port Royal. All traffic has been shifted to the southbound lanes on bridge, with one lane open to traffic in each direction. Project is expected to be completed in July.
