Ora Biscoe Seay, 85, of Chancellor, Spotsylvania County, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, surrounded by members of her loving family.
On June 22, 1927, Mrs. Seay was born in her parents' home on Lawyers Road at Granite Springs on the border of Orange and Spotsylvania Counties. She was the youngest daughter of the late Walter Lafayette Biscoe Sr. and Mattie Scott.
Mrs. Seay was married for 47 years to the late Andrew H. Seay of Spotsylvania.
Mrs. Seay attended school at Belmont and in Spotsylvania County schools, Mary Washington College and the University of Virginia. She was a first-grade teacher at Chancellor Elementary School and had worked in the Spotsylvania County school system for many years.
Mr. and Mrs. Seay shared a love of family that inspired them to reach out to help not only their friends (of whom there were many), but also other members throughout the community, as well.
Survivors include her brother, Walter Lafayette Biscoe Jr. of Vero Beach, Fla.; and her three children, Nancy Seay Yeatts and her husband, James "Wiley" Yeatts, of Spotsylvania, Catherine Andrea Seay Brincefield and her husband, James C. Brincefield Jr., of Alexandria, and Thomas Andrew Seay and his wife, Patricia Goodwin Seay, of Culpeper County. She is also survived by two grandsons, John Thomas Seay and his wife, Teresa Bettis Seay, of Spotsylvania, and Brian Scott Seay and his wife, Becky Ballantyne Seay, of Culpeper; two great-grandchildren, Carly Mae and Dylan Andrew Seay, of Culpeper; and three nephews, Vernon Harris and his wife, Sue, of Palmyra, Donald Walter Biscoe of Florida and Edward Graves and his wife, Pat, of California; niece Janet Graves Jones and her husband, Stuart Jones, of Beaverton, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Seay was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Biscoe Harris of Stafford and Spotsylvania counties, and Ruby Leona Graves of Beaverton, Ore.
The family will receive visits from Mrs. Seay's many friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
Her service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
