'tis the season to shop for Christmas gifts. And we have The Village at Spotsylvania Towne Centre. But there's one small hitch: None of The Village stores are handicap accessible.
No automatic doors. Racks and aisles too close for a wheelchair. Counters are too high. And card readers are too high to reach.
And I have to ask: How did this get past the building inspector? This is not a remodel, it is new construction, and should be up to ADA guidelines.
I'd love to shop more in The Village, but it's just more trouble than it's worth.
I will be so glad when disabled people in this area can go out and enjoy shopping and events. In the meantime, I guess shopping will have to be done online.
Sorry, local businesses.
