Local soccer's on its way thanks to Manzano

I would like to say "thank you" to Marcello Manzano for creating Fredericksburg Soccer Club Incorporated four years ago this January.

Marcello set out to create a new type of soccer club for the Fredericksburg area and has accomplished just that. He has been able to lower costs and take the politics out of travel soccer for area youths through the creation FSCI Phoenix.

He has taken a club that was a few teams and has more than quadrupled that number to serve more than 200 area youths this past season. This has been accomplished through a lot of hard work that included both his volunteer time and his own money; he has created a new outlet for youth soccer players based around individual player development through good coaching.

He not only is helping to develop our area youths into good players but, more importantly, well-rounded individuals. I want to commend him for all of his efforts over the past four years.
