Family Dollar planned across from bakery
A Family Dollar store is planned at 2017 Lafayette Blvd. across the road from Paul's Bakery in Fredericksburg.
A pair of LLCs affiliated with Frank and Linda Sealy recently submitted an application for a special-use permit to allow the 8,320-square-foot store to be built. The land for the store would be sold to Family Dollar as part of the development plan. Most of the land is zoned commercial transitional, but a small part is zoned residential. The LLCs have also requested that the part zoned for residential use be reclassified as commercial transitional.
A public hearing on the matter is scheduled before the Fredericksburg Planning Commission on Jan. 9.
Commercial project planned in Stafford
The Thomas J. Wack Co. plans a commercial development off Garrisonville Road in North Stafford.
The company last week filed a request to rezone 9.2 acres at the southeast corner of Parkway Boulevard and Garrisonville Road from agricultural to commercial. Local attorney Charlie Payne is handling the rezoning application. Bowman Consulting is doing the engineering work.
Plans for the development call for a 6,500-square-foot convenience store and gas station; a 4,400-square-foot bank; a 15,000-square-foot pharmacy; and three other commercial buildings totaling 25,000 square feet. The proposed businesses would have drive-through lanes. Negotiations are under way with potential users, the rezoning application states. No specific businesses are named.
The land is owned by Darlene Dahlgren Davis, June Bruce Raines and Emma Jean Shackelford, the application states. It includes woods and three residential structures that would be removed as part of the development. The developer would make transportation improvements around the site.
