Northern Piedmont Community Foundation gives grants to 12 local nonprofit organizations
Date published: 12/30/2012
The Northern Piedmont Community Foundation presented 12 area nonprofit organizations with $48,406 in grants, thanks to its Richard Lykes Rappahannock Community Fund.
They include the Culpeper Regional Hospital Foundation, the Fauquier Health Foundation and the American Red Cross. The other recipients are solely in Rappahannock County.
The Culpeper Regional Hospital Foundation received $2,000 to help pay for 133 resource binders for cancer patients. The hospital's patient advocacy committee created the binders to help patients understand their diagnosis by providing them with information to help them make informed health care decisions.
Fauquier Health Foundation received $5,000 to help fund its telemonitoring at home program, which will help doctors monitor patients at home in order to help control medical issues before they escalate.
The American Red Cross got $5,000 to help fund its disaster relief services preparedness, response and recovery program, which will help deliver vital emergency services.
The NPCF was established about 12 years ago as a community charity organization to serve Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison and Rappahannock counties. Lykes left his estate to the foundation to fund programs that would help Rappahannock County residents.
